DPI vs resolution: what actually changes

Image resolution means how many pixels wide and tall your file is. That pixel grid is what carries line detail, text, and shading.

DPI is print metadata: it tells software how many of those pixels should fit in one inch on paper. Raising only the DPI field in an editor, without adding pixels, does not create sharper lines — it just spreads the same pixels over a smaller or larger print size.
